Seven Wonders of the modern World

Here is the list of The Seven Wonders of the Modern World.  The list has been prepared by the proficient engineers of the American Society; the list gives in details about the existing wonders on the earth.

Empire State Building. The construction of the building was completed in the year 1931. The building is about 1,250 ft tall and is in New York City. It was the tallest building of New York till the first tower of the World Trade Center was constructed.


Itaipu Dam. This dam was a combined effort of Brazil and Paraguay and is made on the River Paraná, it was completed in the year 1991. This dam is known around the globe as it is world's major hydroelectric power plant. The total length of the dam is around 7,745 m it took approximately 16 years to construct the dam.

CN Tower. Situated in Toronto, Canada, the tower became the tallest freestanding structure in the year 1976. The tower has the floor made up of glass through which one can look 342m down the ground.

Panama Canal. The well known 50 mile long canal is across the Isthmus of Panama. The canal was constructed after 34 years of hard work. This is one of the most expensive project in American history and about 80,000 people died during construction the construction of the canal.

Channel Tunnel. It is better known as the Chunnel, and it makes a nexus between France and England. This tunnel is 31 meter long, and 23 miles of the tunnel are about 150 ft beneath the seabed of the English Channel.

Netherlands North Sea Security Work. As Netherlands is below sea level, therefore number of floodgates, dams and surge barriers are built to check the flooding. The two mile two-mile-long portable surge barrier across an estuary is the biggest part of the project. This project is considered equivalent in scale to the Great Wall of China.

Golden Gate Bridge. One of the longest bridges in America connects San Francisco and Marin County. The bridge was completed in the year 1937. During the construction of the bridge the experts thought that it would be nearly impossible for them to build the huge structure due to natural hazards like winds, ocean currents etc. Around four years were consumed by the constructers to accomplish this task and finally the bridge was built. This bridge is held by steel wire, and the cables.
